A Third Place is a place of gentle reconnection outside of home and work.
There is no agenda. No presentation. No networking. No icebreakers.
No expectation that you stay the whole time.
Just a place to arrive.
Each Tuesday evening, I'll anchor a third place at Fox Point Farms in Encinitas.
Some will read. Often we'll catch up.
Always we'll enjoy the simplicity of the farm.
You're welcome to join for ten minutes or two hours.
Bring a book for exchange—sneak a kind note of encouragement inside.
Browse a book to take home.
Write a need or an offer on the Third Place chalkboard.
Sit quietly with a cup of tea.
Chat up with an old friend.
Meet someone new.
If you do strike up a conversation, there is just this suggested open question:
Tell me about your week . . .
It is remarkable what happens when someone is invited to answer honestly.
This isn't an organization or a membership.
It's simply a response to the fragmentation of these modern times and to loneliness. It's an attempt to reclaim something many of us are missing—a hang out.
A place that isn't home.
A place that isn't work.
A place where community is allowed to happen without being orchestrated.
Come when you'd like.
Bring a friend.

No pressure.
Just people sharing a little more of our lives, together.
